Content Development And Design For Your Website
Content is King.
Generally speaking, web page content that is well written and meaningful will attract both reader/visitor interest and search engine spider attention. That being said, writing for the web is different from print copywriting in that online readers generally have a shorter attention span (it's not as easy to read a 3000 word manuscript online as it is in print).
Brainstorming is very important in content development for a website. An important question to ask yourself is what are the top 20-30 keywords that your customers would use to find your business, and what your competitors are using as the keywords on their websites in order to figure out what keywords you should use. How you come up with that list is probably the most important task in the content development process.
Once you have decided on the keywords, it is helpful to assign each of those keywords or keyword phrases their own separate page. You lose people after about 30 seconds reading online and so you need to keep your text to a 250 to 500-word count. Any less than 250 words and the search engine algorithms will say there’s not enough meaningful content on this page to have any relevance and not index it. You don’t want to have too much more than 500 words on the page because with more than that you will lose the interest of that viewer and increase the abandonment rate on that page.
