Using E-Commerce To Grow Your Business

E-Commerce or buying or selling of products and services online continues to grow to about 140 billion in 2005 up to 170 billion in 2007 and its growing at a rate of about 20% a year.  In general that 170 billion is a small portion of the overall GDP but it represents an opportunity that’s rapidly growing for you to consider for moving some of your potential sales to the Internet.  Half of the people that have ever used the Internet have made a purchase online.

People who use search engines account for 96 percent of the purchases online, generally they go and do a search for a product or service and they funnel that search process into a purchase decision or an online purchase action.  When people search for items online and use search engines to find a company’s products or services they can also increase offline sales.  This happens particularly in the automobile industry when people do research for types of automobiles online and 82 percent of those will make an offline purchase.

Major purchases are still not purchased online very frequently but they are researched online and make offline purchases so if you have a physical location where you sell a higher end product, anything over a hundred dollars, people are going to research that online and than make the purchase offline.  E-commerce is an ever-growing industry that should be a key component of a company looking to expand their sales growth.
