E-mail Marketing And The Six Steps Of E-Mail Marketing

E-mail marketing consists of 6 steps.  The first is to figure out what you are going to do and begin the planning process for your e-mail marketing campaign.  The second thing you must consider is figuring out what you want to offer.  You can offer a discount or useful information but make sure it is relevant to the list of people you are sending the e-mail to.

Choosing your e-mail list is the next step.  Open rates and click through rates of e-mails are generally low, as you would expect with a direct mail piece.  That is because in most cases the e-mail list is not very targeted and is many times disregarded.

Think about being creative in the design and the flow of the content of the e-mail.  250-500 words are about the limit for keeping the attention of the people reading your e-mail.  An e-mail that is 800 words long will most likely lose your readers interest and be ineffective.  It is important to test your e-mail with a smaller audience first rather than sending it out to your whole list right away.  This will allow you to make changes and figure out how to increase open rates and make your e-mail ready to be sent out to the whole targeted e-mail list.
